Winter Weight Loss Official Thread

Postby Mikeurtno » Mon Sep 08, 2014 11:02 pm

Ok so I figured I would start an official thread that will run the whole length of the challenge. So now the rules:

1) Please be consistent with the scale you use throughout the challenge.

2) Weigh ins will be every Friday. Not looking for people to lose weight every week but it will be easier to track progress that way. Also this is not a hard and fast rule. If you are going to be out of town or something like that just let us know.

3) Please PM me you weight whenever is convenient for you on Friday. I should have progress updated either Friday night or at least by the end of the weekend.

4) Weight loss will be judged by percent difference. %difference = [(Starting Weight - Current Weight) / (Starting Weight)] X 100
*After reading some more ShagzWifes suggested equation should be better for what we are trying to do.

5) The challenge will start 9/12/14 and end 3/27/14

6) Your welcome to jump in late you will just be playing catch up.

7) Be positive and supportive. This is for fun and to help each other get faster and healthier so that we can dominate the track next year.

Join in either my commenting in here or PMing me. I am open to suggestions from anyone.

Contestants Total Percent Lost:

Mikeurtno - 0.65%

BunnyLover - 2.33%

Naldge - 1.06%

Andyman - 4.0%

ShagzWife - 2.12%

Gre8one7 - 3.92%

Just a quick question....could you clarify why you chose this equation:
Weight loss will be judged by percent difference. %difference = [(Starting Weight - Current Weight) / ((Starting Weight + Current Weight) / 2)] X 100

instead of
[(Starting Weight - Current Weight) / Starting Weight] X 100

Mostly just wondering!

No reason in particular. We could just as easily use [(Starting Weight - Current Weight) / Starting Weight] X 100 if you prefer.

So ladies and gentlemen tomorrow marks the beginning of our harrowing journey to increased power to weight ratio. The journey will be long and it will be tough but remember you can do it and we are here to support you. Do not let small setbacks dissuade you from pushing towards your ultimate goal.

Employee appreciation day with free burger, hotdogs, brats, coleslaw, chips, cake, and pop is not the best way to start a weight loss challenge...

Be thankful it's on day one, not the end of week one.
