New to the Forum - Davenport

Postby dev_man77 » Thu Mar 26, 2015 8:53 pm

Howdy Folks!

I just picked up a 2015 Yamaha FZ-09 a couple weeks ago and couldn't be more pleased with the purchase (well maybe if they put an actual decent suspension on it.. but hey sticker on it is $8k)

I found out about the forum from AllenTron10R, he was selling some riding gear on CL and told me to check it out and told me about a bike(less) night that I wasn't able to make it to. Perhaps the next one...
I have been part of numerous bike forums in the past in Minnesota. MNSBR, TwistedThrottle, Zerogravity, ect...

Moved to the area exactly one year ago and I work as a contingent employee as a Test Engineer for John Deere Harvester.
I have moved every year since I have turned 18 and been all over the midwest so unfortunately I have been bikeless the last two years.
I've owned all of the following:
2007 Suzuki GSXR600
2008 Honda CBR600RR
2009 Yamaha R6

And no I cannot pick a favorite, they all had their negatives and positives.

I never thought I would need anything more than a 600... swore up and down there was no need... Until I saw the Dyno chart for the FZ-09 and turned past the magical age of 25 and decided I wanted something with a more upright riding position.
The engine on this thing is insane, 3rd gear has never come up so easily and I've never had to hold on so tight at such a low RPM. Really diggin the powerplant on this thing.. the suspension will just have to be upgraded as I get settled on it.
I've already purchased a full exhaust, powercommander V, GPR V4 steering Damper (I still dont understand why yamaha doesn't put these on stock, had a scary time on the R6 before I installed one)
I have more parts on order later tonight.

I've heard this forum is more track day oriented which is something I've never really done so I'm always interested in learning. :banana-linedance:

Lots of just general motorcycle love on this forum. There are some that do track days and road race, and we've even got some dragsters, but definitely not everyone!

:welcome: to the forum and the Quad Cities! Hope we keep you awhile!

I like to say the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Welcome. Looks like you've tried all the Jap brands except the best one. Shame :banana-fingers:
Shitty planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

Sportbiker's tips on what not to do when you want to sell something:
Post an artistic picture where your bike takes up 5% of the area.

Thanks folks!
I've been bust this week installing a bunch of new goodies. Intake, Fuel, Exhaust are all taken care of and she runs like a bat out of hell. Steering stabilizer works pretty well too.
I have a few other odds and ends coming this week, then I should be done for now.

I am really looking forward to some group rides as I am new to the area and not aware of any of the popular routes. I just picked up a SENA 20S Bluetooth communicator so if any of ya have something similar, they help a ton with communication between the tail and lead anyway. I've got a group ride setup with some coworkers at the end of June to go around Lake Michigan so I will post up the details of that when I get more information.
