QCSB newb

Postby Sportbiker » Sat Jun 23, 2012 10:11 am

Hey, long time (11 years?) rider who was looking for suggestions on good local roads and discovered your little sliver of the virtual world. Thought I'd intro myself.

I ride an '05 636, Titanium (where the bodywork's color isn't covered by glue). Probably the most obvious rider in the area as I most often wear my RS Taichi one-piece, yellow. I'll add a pic here from my first track day back just after asphault was invented :old:

Anyway, how 'bout some suggestions on nice corner locations? For instance, I'm a pretty big fan of abusing Wells Ferry but its too short. And the cops put up a speed indicator recently which tells me they're going to be keeping an eye on it for a while.

As for meets, frankly between my job duties and family I never have any consistent time. Hour here, hour there. I get my seat time almost entirely from going to/fro work.

Oh, one other thing. I changed my mind on username so can an Admin drop me a PM so I can get it changed? Didn't think at registration.... :banghead:

:welcome: to QCSB. I'm sure Shagz will be along and can give you a heads up on some roads you can hit.

Probably the best way to find some good roads is to keep an eye out for one of the rides on here going up to Galena, Dubuque and hook up with them or come out and ride with us on the Mississippi River Ride coming up in July.

Roads...
If you're looking for something close to town, GSXtacy and QCNINJAGIRL turned me on to Barstow Rd out of East Moline. You really need to get out a little further to get the really fun stuff, though...like 71st Ave out of Rapids City/Port Byron, CR U & Meredosia Rd between Hillsdale and Albany, 136 between Charlotte and Clinton, and Z2E between Charlotte & DeWitt. The further North you go, the better it gets, though. Up around Savanna, Galena, Dubuque, or up into Wisconsin are my regular haunts.

If you can make it out for a weekend ride with some of us, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Thanks for the road suggestions!

Will keep an eye out for rides but like I mentioned, my time is quite limited unfortunately. Would very much like to meet up at some point though so will try to make an effort when one looks viable.

If you're heading out for one of your short rides and you're looking for some company, be sure to post up. I enjoy meeting new riders and would love to hook up at some point as well, and I'm sure you might pick up some others if anyone else happens to be available.

After a chat with a guy at work, I found a potential route down SW of Muscatine, where I work. It'd be an extra hour roundtrip but hope I can ditch work early one day so the misses doesn't notice me playing around. She gets jealous :neener:
