What did you do to your bike today?

If it's on two wheels, it goes here.

I stripped mine down for some work, which hasn't progressed very much. Recently discovered that the fuel pump has likely died. Bummer.

Sat on it for a few moments and muttered something about how awful winter is. Swapped the battery tender over to it. Have a new rear LED tail light I'll be putting on soon.

The new ride got fluid changes except coolant, which will wait until its actually warm out. Put (red) case savers on both sides, and one of the two frame sliders. Pulled all the stock bodywork to try on the AB to ensure fit. Turns out AB was wrong, the older format glass fits the '13 without modification. Installed double bubble on the AB with some Aluminum ProBolts. Also changed out all the STUPID star-bit bodywork bolts that are stock on beemers for red aluminum allen bolts. Yeah, I blinged it LOL Also fitted a Battery Tender to her, wiped her down with water, and applied polish.

In taking off those damned star-bit bolts, I discovered the manu put loctite on all of them. This resulted in most of the bolt heads getting stripped (awesome, not). One of them, on the front wheel fairing, broke off and my attempts with an easy out have been unsuccessful. I'm pretty pissed.

Lesson on replacement bolts. The aluminum ones come in pretty colors but are so tender it is super easy to strip them. You don't tighten those, you take them only to slightly snug. Learned the hard way. And I think they erred in the sizes they sent b/c four of them are too short for the belly pan. Have to drop them a line...

Stupid move #2 on part of manu. The oil cooler is lower than where the radiator is on many sportbikes. Its VERY low to the ground. This means the front wheel has a great time throwing rocks right into it. Ironically, I had the exact same problem with our Audi car. It was VERY common for people to post they had been running along a highway only to have to stop b/c it sprang a major leak and the whole unit had to be replaced. Anyway, since I'd done a screen-front job before, applied the same thing here. $1.32 at Home Depot later and its workable. Better than the ridiculous $80 being asked for online.

On the 636, it has not been my year. I PayPal'd for a new windscreen, and throttle bodies and subframe. The first guy disappeared, so that's in dispute to get the $ back. The other two items have been 5 weeks in transit with USPS. At least the seller is very responsive. But that means my repairs and prep for sale have been at a total standstill. Ugh.

Am going to see about some bodywork repair and painting from a guy in RI. Price isn't obnoxious, tentatively. Will advise on how that goes.

Post photos of the new beast!

I've had a couple issues with those aluminum bolt kits not having all the right sizes and such from ProBolt, but they were pretty good about making it right when I called them.

Today....I slapped the bodywork back on ShagzWife's GSXR so we could haul it up to Dubuque to its new home. It looks like there will be a Minnesota trip in the next couple weeks to go retrieve an SV650.

Over the last two days I have finally begun prep for the 2016 race season! All the body work came off, brakes disassembled, cleaned and inspected, wheels off for cleaning and regreasing, charged the battery, and started a nice list of parts I need to buy before April!

Put a new battery in and a new ring terminal on the positive battery lead (prior owners who don't care about corrosion suck :moon: ) on this bad mutha and took it out for a spin.
